Book: 38/52
Queen Charlotte - Julia Quinn
My Rating: 5/5
Julia Quinn has definitely become one of the most-read authors for me in the last two years, as this is her 10th book that I have read in that time :). And I must say, the way her stories turn out, I am not done with her yet and am actually looking forward to reading some more from her. Let me see when she will beat Mr King in that regard and become the most-read author for me. Mr King’s personal best record stands at 17 books in all as number one Author for me in the last three years. After loving the Bridgerton series and watching four seasons on Netflix, I was looking forward to reading some more from her, and I landed on this one. Usually TV series and movies are based on books, but in this case it was the other way round; this book is based on the TV series, which again turns out to be slightly better than the adaptation because of character detailing and with so many side characters getting their dues, especially the Queen’s right-hand man, Brimsley and the King’s man, Reynolds; totally love them both for how they handle things delicately in making their lives better. Just like all her other books and stories, this too was a very quick read even with 350+ pages; I just couldn’t put it down, but I must say I enjoyed it thoroughly. Loved the way Charlotte is forced into marriage with the King of Britain, travels all the way from Germany to find the real reason why it was done in the first place, but before she knows the real reason, she actually falls in love with George (Just George). My most loved character from the Bridgerton books - Lady Danbury was totally amazing in this one, and that too in her younger form, with full-on attitude to survive and fight for her rights, was simply amazing to read. The only turn-off was no mention of Bridgerton in this one, which was ok but I expected at least a mention, which wasn't there at all. If you are looking for a light-hearted, romantic read, this is the book to pick up over a lazy weekend and finish it before you hit Monday.
Do let me know if you have read this one and enjoyed it, or any other book that you recommend from Julia Quinn’s stable that I would love to read. I will for sure pick another series from her soon (time and budget permitting).
